Happy 4th of September

Some of you may be wondering about the title here. No, it's not a mistake. Today is, or would have been, my grandmother's 74th birthday if she were with us today. However, I am completely inspired to write about her "1st" birthday. The inspiration comes from a comment a friend posted on my mom's Facebook page in regards to today and all it implies. She said, "Her first birthday with Jesus, how awesome." 

It really got me thinking about the magnitude of awesomeness that truth is. I mean, I don't know about you people, but I sincerely can't remember a single thing about my first birthday. But to think in terms of how Grammie is celebrating now forever AND will always recall and be living in a state of celebration is seriously awesome. I'd argue whatever kind of party going on in eternity is far better than any one we could throw on this earth. On this day we remember, we celebrate, we perhaps hold our thoughts a little higher in regard simply because of who today is linked to. With all this, I'm lead to consider how days and time are a man made concept. But in eternity, awesomeness happens non-stop. There is no rest in the celebration of God's glory and living with Him. There is no need to make each "day" feel a little more important than another because awesomeness in eternity is on-going; not day by day. So as I do my best to live a lifestyle of on-going worship, I am inspired to recognize the invitation to celebrate with my Savior - Grammie's Savior - "today". After all, it is HIS day! And today is awesome...

Therefore, Happy September 4th everybody! 

P.S. I do believe Grammie liked red velvet cake....in case you needed to know the dessert of choice.

We Need a Vacation from Our Vacation!

This past week we visited our home state of Florida. I'll try not to bore you with a huge recap of everything we did. But I will say it was both a fun and exhausting trip. Basically, anytime we visit Florida it's never a "vacation" in the true sense of the word. Setting my alarm every morning doesn't exactly ring "you're on vacation!" to me. My hover craft is full of eels!

My day has turned out to be rather productive. I have spent most of my afternoon learning Korean words and phrases in preparation for my visit to South Korea this summer. Youtube has become quite the educational resource when learning a second language! I started with the most practical, of course.  "Hello" (ann-yeong) or (ann-yeong-haseyo)        INFORMAL                                      FORMAL and "Welcome" (hwan-yeong) My plan is to use this language as often as possible without being too obnoxious, in effort to learn it quickly and efficiently. For example, when Jeff comes home, I will greet him with "annyeong!" and a hug. Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not?

I realize it's Monday - two days past our anniversary - but I'm still feeling rather remnicent! I'll try to refrain from telling our life's story, but I'm not sure many get to experience life together so soon like Jeff and I have. Jeff and I met mid-way through my high school years. Though there is a 3 and a half year difference between us, we became friends quickly and soon we were inseprable. After all, we met through mutual friends at church anyway so everyone spent a lot of time together! Good memories... Fastforward 9 and a half years and here were are - married for 6 of them - and wondering where the time went! Isn't that always the way of it?
